Things to Know
Guild Members,
In our colloquium meeting today, we discussed some orders of business of which you should be aware.
1. In approximately 2 weeks, the Venture Guild will be raiding once again. The minimum level requirement to participate is 55. We will be raiding at Molton Core.
2. If you’re still trudging through the lower levels, it has been suggested that you pair up with other guild players who are around your level, and work together in order to level up more quickly. Also, feel free to ask other guild members who are online for assistance in completing quests and instances to help you gain some much needed XP. As long as they aren’t involved at that moment, our guild members are always willing to help!
3. As more of our guild members begin reaching higher levels, we will start raiding in earnest. In doing so, we are going to move from text-based chatting to voice chat. Raik will be purchasing the voice chat capabilities for our Clemson server. All you need to do is download the Ventrilo client, which you can do here: TypeFrag.
4. Raik showcased a really useful site to assist you with bosses: BossKillers.
5. Finally, for those of you attending CCCCs in Louisville, KY, we’re having a Special Interest Group, Thursday night (3/18). We want to let people know that our guild will be in town, and we also want to do some recruiting for Venture Guild, so please pass the word onward!

Congratulations!
Guild Members,
Congratulations are in order to our following members:
Hessie has been promoted to our Raid Leader (along with Raik) due to his seamless leadership skills he demonstrated in last night’s raid. His leadership skills also gained Venture two new members, who whispered to Raik during the raid with an interest in joining Venture. When you see Hess, whether in-game or around campus, please congratulate him on a job well done and on his promotion!
Senormuerto, due to his excellent management skills and his rising up through the ranks of levels, has been promoted to our new Guild Bank Manager. Since Senormuerto will be our new Banker, please contact him in order to find out what we have available in our Guild Bank (unless you happen to be near a bank). Our Guild Bank is currently filled with items. Please feel free to take up to 5 items per day from the Guild Bank. If you see Senormuerto either in-game or otherwise, please congratulate him on his accomplishment!
Call for Character Bios/In-Game Stories
Dear Serious Gamers,
As Keepers of the Lore, we’re putting out a call for submissions to the Venture Guild blog. Of particular interest are avatar bios and stories from within game, such as your experience at the recent Omen raid.
Since WOW is steeped in lore, we want our guild members to create back stories for their characters in order to transfer some of WOW’s lore into our Venture Guild. We also want any narratives you pen about recent in-game adventures. Remember our discussion on reality? Well, it’s time to permeate the membrane between “real life” and our “virtual existences”!
We know everyone is busy, but please start thinking about narratives for your characters. Once you have something ready to publish, please send screen shots to our Guild Flickr account (or upload them directly). All text portions (except captions) of submissions should be sent to our email account: venturelore@gmail.com.
For the Horde and Venture,
Boucho and Avire
Call for Assistance/Games & Rhetoric Symposium
Fellow WOWers:
As discussed today at the Serious Games Colloquium, the PRE/TEXT Games and Rhetoric Symposium is coming up in April (8-9). We need Venture Guild members/SGC attendees to voluteer to create a poster for the event. We also need you guys to send the word out about the event through various social media outlets (Facebook, blogs, Twitter, etc.–whatever you’re currently using to connect). If you’re interested in helping design a poster, please contact Senormuerto, Norandor, or Raik. (Mr. Death is our point man for the event.)
For those of you who weren’t able to attend today’s colloquium, you can obtain the Symposium’s tentative program from either Norandor or Raik. As mentioned, the Symposium will be held on Thursday, April 8-Friday, April 9. Currently, the times are looking like 5pm-10pm on Thursday, and 9am-5pm on Friday. We’ll post a program on the blog once the times aren’t tentative.

Love is in the Air
Something is in the air…in the Venture Guild. As announced today, we have two upcoming events. On 2/8/10 at 8pm (EST), available members of Venture will meet outside Orgrimmar to discuss raid strategy. Likely topics to include talents, roles, gear, rotations and Alliance jokes. Also, a LAN party is scheduled for Friday evening (2/12). Details are available from Raik or Nora! or email (venturelore@gmail.com).
For the Horde,
Boucho
